STARTING A BUSINESS IN ROANOKE COUNTY

Roanoke County's Economic Development Department has developed a Start A Business information
resource guide for entrepreneurs or first time business owners. This guide provides
recommendations for first steps that need to be addressed on the local, state and national levels. It also provides reference links for business owners who require
special information for their respective companies.

that your employees cannot come to your home based business for meetings? If you are buying an existing business, will it require a rezoning or change of use? Is there a
tax advantage to operating my business out of my home? What are the benefits of leasing vs. buying an existing building? Does purchasing a building for my business
increase the value of my business?
The information is available in print, by email or on-line at our website. Any questions, please click on the button below or call the Economic Development Department
