The Richmond, Va.-based privately held bank today also announced plans to build a regional office in Roanoke in 2009. With the new location, First Market Bank now employs 10 associates in Roanoke. This location is inside the 58,700-square-foot Ukrop’s at 2331 Franklin Road in Ivy Market located at the corner of Franklin Road and Wonju Street.
“We’ve been warmly received in the Star City since opening our first banking location in the summer of 2007,” said Sam Highfill, who serves as First Market Bank’s regional group manager and vice president. “Our newest freestanding location will enable us to make personal and business banking even more convenient for our clients.” Highfill is a native of Roanoke and oversees Roanoke as well as 12 branches in western Richmond. Elizabeth “Betsy” Lockard Nelson, president of First Market Bank, is another Roanoke native, who shares Highfill’s enthusiasm for the bank’s expansion in Southwestern Virginia. “Our approach to customer service is based on the Golden Rule of treating others how we’d like to be treated,” she said. “We look forward to sharing our approach to the ultimate banking experience for individuals, families and businesses. Plus, we’re the only bank that can offer customers free groceries through our recently revamped MarketShare rewards program.” Lockard began her career at the former Dominion Bank in the Roanoke Valley after graduating from Virginia Tech.
